The Best Birthday Gift that I Received

18th birthday is a very important event in someone's life, especially for a girl. Usually a debutante celebrates her birthday with a huge party but for me, it is not the party that matters. It's the value of being thankful for those years that have passed.

I celebrated my birthday in a simple way. I went to the church and thanked God. When I got home in my aunt's house, I prepared my things because I'll be going to Los Baños because there will be a class the next day. My aunt cooked pasta which I brought in LB to share to my housemates.

A week after, I celebrated my birthday in our house in Bulacan. It was really my grandfather's birthday but we decided to celebrate mine too. At the end of the day, I told my family what I want for my birthday. I said I want my medals to be framed. hehe :) It's funny 'cause I got it just yesterday, I supposed they don't have the time last year.



Looking at this frame, I feel so happy and overwhelmed. In fact, I almost cried when I first saw this. It took me 8 years of studying to have this 50 pieces of metal with great value to me. It was so fulfilling because this is a collection of things which I do not buy nor ask for. This is a collection of things that I worked hard for. =)) The best birthday gift ever !!!

I really don't have plans on writing today but something inside me wants to say something. I am not that busy or problematic the past few days, maybe it's just that I want to talk to someone about anything but I can't find the right person or the right thing to talk about. It is the start of the week and I'm feeling this way. This is somehow bothering so I'd better let it out. These past days have not been full of worries. I may say that those were some of the "lightest days" of the semester. I've had a lot of time to think while walking to class, to prepare my own meal, to check on what things I needed for the coming days plus the time that I had to go home last weekend. My love, I'm sorry for the past month. It has been very hard for both of us, but look at where we are now. We survived! It has been almost two years since that day in Pangasinan and I am proud to say that we've grown individually and together.
